This Week In Golf
- by
Kevin Ferrarotti,
Owner of the Premier Golf Academy
Those glued to the television this past
weekend could not have asked for a more unpredictable finish at the
US Open, as young Australian Geoff Ogilvy pull off a surprising
victory, overcoming crowd favorite Phil Mickelson, who stunned the
crowds of Winged Foot by double bogeying the 72nd hole and losing
the championship by 1 stroke. The golf world also saw the return of
Tiger Woods, who returned for the first time since his father's
death. Tiger was tamed by the thick rough, however, and went home
early after missing the cut.
It was Hunter Haas taking the top spot on
the Nationwide Tour this past weekend, as both the Seniors and
Ladies took this past weekend off. The LPGA has their final tune up
this coming weekend before the Women's US Open held in Rhode Island
June 29th - July 2nd.

Weekly Golf Update for June 17, 2006 -
by Mike Colandro
Last
Saturday, June 10, 2006, I performed at the Mikeys Place Golf Outing
at Goodwin Park Golf Club in Hartford, Connecticut. The course was a
little wet but the greens were in great shape. Paul and Mary D.
organized the event for the 5th year and did a great job.
I did a chipping clinic prior to play, then I played the 15th
hole with each group. After play, there was a great steak cookout, a
super raffle, and prizes along with a few of my unique golf songs. It
was a great day for all and we captured my act on the course, as to
what I can do during a charity outing; you can see it if

On
Sunday, we at CTGolfTips.com were part of the American Diabetes
Associations Tour de Care in Middletown. We had a chipping contest
to raise money for ADA. Both Robert Tamiso (Marketing Director of
CTGolfTips.com)
and I were there and awarded prizes such as: Titleist Golf Balls
Buick Championship Tickets Golf DVDs Gift Baskets, etc. We were
joined by former Mrs. Connecticut, Agnes Pireh, who was very helpful
during our chipping contest.

It
was great to be part of such a good cause, especially because I am a
diabetic, so it hits home.
CTGolfTips.com is available to do
any kind of charity promotion, so contact us and we will help.
Mr.
Cigar of Cromwell is staging its Grand Opening on the 24th
of June (Saturday) in the K-mart shopping plaza in Cromwell. A tent
will be set up in the parking lot and
CTGolfTips.com will be there
conducting a putting contest for great prizes. Come join the fun on
the 24th, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Mr. Cigars Grand
Opening.

Golf in the
Business World
- by
Mike Colandro, Golf Professional & Journalist
Part I
Mike has been writing for several years about Golf with Magazine
Features, Golf Course Reviews, and in 2006, online at CTGolfTip.com.
He is a former PGA Tour Player and 16 year veteran of the Australasian
PGA Tour. He currently competes as a Senior Professional. The
two-time Connecticut Open Champ has been entertaining both on and off
the course for businesses around the world. In this article, Mike
will share with you some experiences he has had through 30 years of
golf in the business world.
The Golf Boom
The great thing about golf is it is unlike any other sport, because a
Professional can compete with an amateur with a handicap. Today there
is a golf boom, especially in the business world, mostly because of
many major companies sponsoring top professionals. On the PGA Tour,
Tiger Woods is not only considered the best athlete in the U.S.A., but
being half Asian, he is marketable throughout the world. The next
sensation is Michelle Wie, and she just turned Pro. She is a tall
beautiful American born, Asian decent and speaks several languages.
She plays the LPGA Tour part-time while she is finishing high school
and can hit a ball 300 yards. She is already doing T.V. commercials
in Japan and is the highest paid lady Golf Pro at age 16. When she
turned Pro in November of 2005, she signed with Nike and Sony to
endorse their products. This all makes it even more popular to be
playing golf at any level.
Dealing on the Links
Through the last 100 years in golf, people have been doing business
deals on the golf course, and today that trend is becoming more and
more popular. There are many reasons why. As a verse in one of my
golf songs That Old Damn Golf Game goes, Its the greatest leveler
of human nature around. What this means is that when playing golf
with clients, you can really see how they react to adversity while on
the course. From there, you can tell what your business associate or
customer is like and judge him accordingly. This has nothing to do
with how someone plays but all to do about dealing with his or her
good or bad shots. Another reason to get out on the course with your
customers, employees, or VIPs is to spend some face to face time with
them. In this new world of technology, sometimes you only contact
business associates by e-mail, conference calls, cell phones, etc.
Golf gives you a reason to actually be with people for 4-6 hours (18
holes) and that can make a difference. |
